Volunteering

Volunteer directly within ShARP; in our shop, advice services, office, or by raising vital funds.

Depending on your interests and skills, we can make sure that you find the right volunteering opportunity to suit you. We also have special opportunities for employee volunteering, young volunteers and university students.

We are always looking to attract new members to our Board. If you would like to give something back to your community, being a Board member at ShARP can be an extremely rewarding experience.

We provide full training and support to all of our Board Members.

We particulary welcome members who are active voices within their own area of the community for example

older people, young parents, ethnic minorities and groups of interest such as heritage or development.

Fancy doing something wacky and benefit your community at the same time? ShARP can provide help and support to individuals and groups who want to get involved in fundraising for ShARP.

We can provide help on ideas on what activity to do as a fundraising event, and provide fundraising packs including collection boxes, advertising information and information on Gift Aid.

ShARP costs approximately £100k per annum to run. We receive funding from the local authority and grant making trusts to ensure we can continue to deliver services that are free to our community.

Any donations are warmly welcomed. We have donation boxes in our reception area.

Cheques are made payable to ShARP Advice Centre Ltd.

Or you can get involved in one of our regular fundraising events.

Your company can support ShARP simply by making a donation. This donation does not necessarily have to be financial – it could be of items needed by our services, or the offer of your expertise. Any contribution will make a huge difference to our work.

Make your gift to ShARP worth even more – at no extra cost to you.

If you are a UK tax payer, you can make every £1 you give – or have given – worth 25p more, just by telling us. This is because the government’s Gift Aid scheme allows ShARP to reclaim tax on donations.

This means that you can make an even bigger difference at no extra cost to you!

For your donations to be eligible for Gift Aid you must pay an amount of income tax and/ or capital gains tax for each tax year (6 April one year to 5 April the next) that is at least equal to the tax that ShARP reclaims on your donations in the same tax year.

If you pay higher rate tax you can claim further tax relief in your Self Assessment tax return.
